Rooms that are warm and inviting, activities that engage and motivate learners, and an innovative curriculum that challenges the students are the hallmark of Saint Luke Academy’s Primary program. Under the leadership of a caring and award-winning staff, these children will build on the reading and mathematical foundation laid in Kindergarten.

  • The writing process is introduced. Students move from simple sentence construction to writing introductory paragraphs, essays to express materials learned and informative reports.
  • Research skills are introduced as students learn to identify resource material, organize information and compile a bibliography.
  • Third and fourth grade students develop group displays and presentations.
  • Critical thinking activities are introduced and children have the opportunity for self-expression through creative writing projects.
  • Keyboarding skills are introduced in Grade 1 and children have the opportunity to practice and expand their skills on classroom computers and in the computer lab. Typing is introduced in grades 3 and 4.
  • Science, social studies, spelling and language arts skills are expanded and enriched through corss-curricular learning.
  • Students participate in music appreciation, painting, drawing and physical education classes.
  • All classes have an outdoor playtime at least once a day (weather permitting).
  • Religious studies are enhanced by the many worship opportunities at Saint Luke.
  • Participation in extracurricular activities begins during the Primary school years. Art, Math and Primary Sports Club are available to Grades 1-4. Third and Fourth grade students may also play basketball and participate in some traveling games with local Lutheran Schools..
