Reading Literacy is promoted through a balanced reading instruction incorporating phonemic awareness, phonics, recognition of high frequency words and vocabulary development.
Language Mechanics helps students to expand their skills in both written and oral expression.
Students work on number sense in anticipation of Number Operations. They explore concepts of time and money and ordinal numbers. Students practice patterning and sorting and are introduced to the basic concepts of fractions.
Students engage in a variety of learning units that help them understand both the natural world around them and the people, the societies and the history that shape their social environment.
Learning centers promote learning through discovery. Art, music and drama expand cultural horizons.
Children participate in physical education, experience computer technology and enjoy daily outdoor play (weather permitting).
