PARENT CONNECTIONS |
A variety of groups or events connect parents to the school, the teachers and to fellow parents: . Each family will receive a Home Visit from the student’s teacher(s) before the school year begins. Parents and student have the opportunity to visit with the teacher(s) and to get acquainted with the program for the coming year. . The Orientation Picnic held on school grounds the first week of school allows students and parents to get acquainted with classmates and other parents in a relaxed setting. . A Parent Newsletter is sent home with the children every Monday (or first day of a school week). Upcoming events, reminders, school news and a weekly calendar are included on this sheet. . Classroom Newsletters are sent from each classroom. Notes on upcoming field trips, events, special classroom activities and academic topics to be covered inform parents on happenings in their child’s classroom. . Monthly Parent Nights feature classroom visits, presentations on topics of interest or student performances. . Report Cards are issued quarterly. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled at the end of the first and third quarters. Additional conferences may be scheduled upon the request of the teacher or parents. . Parent volunteers provide valuable service to the administration of the school and the functioning of individual classrooms. . Lutheran Forum acquaints new parents with the history and tradition of the Lutheran Church. |

GRANDPARENTS |

. Saint Luke Academy’s annual Grandparents Day invites grandparents and older friends and/or caregivers to a morning of fellowship, performances and classroom visits. . Seasonings is Saint Luke’s Intergenerational Luncheon program. Children and older adults meet Wednesdays at noon for lunch and conversation. |
