Reading Literacy, Language Mechanics and Oral/Written Expression provide a basis for Language Appreciation. Students move from simple sentence construction to writing introductory paragraphs, essays and informative reports. They begin acquiring the tools necessary to analyze literary works and to create and criticize their own efforts.
Problem Solving and Strategizing, applied to both math and science, are paired with Reasoning, Proof and Methodology to understand and apply facts, concepts and skills.
Research skills are introduced as students learn to identify and evaluate resource material, organize information and compile a bibliography. Communication is coupled with cooperation as third and fourth grade students research and develop group displays and presentations.
Study of American and World Cultures underscores concepts of Citizenship and Society and provides direction for studies of Ecology and the stewardship of resources.
Sensory integration is promoted through music appreciation, painting, drawing and physical education classes.
All classes have an outdoor playtime at least once a day (weather permitting).
Religious studies are enhanced by the many worship opportunities at Saint Luke.
Participation in extracurricular activities begins during the Primary school years. Specialized after school activities are available to Grades 1-4. Third and Fourth grade students may also play basketball and participate in some traveling games with local Lutheran Schools.
