Mission Statement
The Parish Nurse provides a healing ministry to assist parishioners with their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being through health counseling and education and as a liaison to community services.
What is a Parish Nurse?
A Parish Nurse is a Registered Nurse who has received special education to provide health care in a parish setting. The Parish Nurse focuses on the body, mind and spirit of individuals as they relate to achieving wellness and managing illness.
What are the functions of the Parish Nurse?
The Parish Nurse serves the congregation as health educator, counselor, referral agent and facilitator.
What services does the Parish Nurse provide to the Church of Saint Luke?
1. Sunday morning blood pressure screening and consultation between worship services (9:30 – 10:30 a.m.)
2. Home, hospital and telephone visits – Wednesday afternoons and upon request
3. Annual flu shot program (Autumn)
4. Develops educational/support programs
5. Provides health education and information
6. In addition to the above, the Parish Nurse also provides screenings, consultation, referrals and educational programs to the residents of Renaissance Saint Luke with regular office hours Monday and Wednesday.
