Saint Luke Academy
Taste of PreSchool
Saint Luke Academy's Taste of PreSchool is designed to meet the needs of the early 3-year old or the student who might benefit from a gradual exposure to the schooling experience.
The Taste of PreSchool offers a wide range of educational activities packaged in morning sessions three days each week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) taught by state certified teachers.
The traditional areas of Early Childhood Education - making connections and dealing with the whole child - are underscored and supported by Saint Luke Academy's unique direction in education - helping children create meaning. We do this by teaching students to:
understand and manipulate symbols (images, sounds, words, numbers),
acquire the skills necessary for reading and writing readiness, and
develop the personal characteristics necessary for taking turns, sharing materials and ideas, and working in teams
Instructional manipulatives, arts and crafts, educational toys and tools give our active students a chance to learn through play.
Inter-disciplinary thematic units are used to introduce and practice basic pre-reading and mathematics skills.
Reading and Language Arts are integrated into all subject areas and reinforced through daily encounters with art, music, and drama.
Differentiated instruction addresses specific needs of the students. Technological tools support and reinforce new skills.
Outdoor play in one of the secure playlots is part of every day's schedule (weather permitting).
Sessions will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
The program is staffed by state certified teachers
Enrollment will be on a first-come first-served basis.
Students must be toilet trained.
