FREE PARKING

Please be sure to use the free onsite parking for all worship services, especially during these months of “Chicago Winter”, in the Pointe at Greenview Place Parking Structure directly to the north of the Church Building.

The entrance is just west of 1501 W. Melrose Street and is marked with a sign to the left of the driveway into the Parking Structure. Please note: Melrose Street runs one way west at this point. If you’re at the entrance of the Whole Foods parking lot, you’ve gone too far!

All of these parking spaces, at any level, are currently available for our use, even those with “Reserved Parking” signs. Once parked, the entrance path into the Church is clearly marked.

Welcome to Saint Luke  Whether you are visiting for the first time, or are a longtime member, we are blessed to have you with us. As a Reconciling in Christ Congregation, we welcome all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions based on our belief in a radically inclusive Jesus who loved all people regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, economic, social status, or physical abilities. Saint Luke Ministries strives to be a place “Where all are welcomed, period.”

About Today's Service  We are in week two of Advent season. The second candle represents peace and is known as the Bethlehem Candle. The second candle is meant to remind us of the peace that Jesus’s birth brings, and the fulfilling of prophetic promises. Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem in anticipation of the Messiah brought them peace.

At the heart of our Advent preparation stands John the Baptist, who calls us to repent and make a new beginning. As the darkness increases, we turn toward the approaching light of Christ. For Christians he is the root of Jesse, the righteous judge who welcomes all, especially the poor and meek of the earth. We wait with hope for that day when the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and there will be no more hurt or destruction. From the Lord’s table we are sent in the spirit of John the Baptist to proclaim that in Christ the kingdom of God has come near.
