FREE PARKING

Please be sure to use the free onsite parking for all worship services, especially during these months of “Chicago Winter”, in the Pointe at Greenview Place Parking Structure directly to the north of the Church Building.

The entrance is just west of 1501 W. Melrose Street and is marked with a sign to the left of the driveway into the Parking Structure. Please note: Melrose Street runs one way west at this point. If you’re at the entrance of the Whole Foods parking lot, you’ve gone too far!

All of these parking spaces, at any level, are currently available for our use, even those with “Reserved Parking” signs. Once parked, the entrance path into the Church is clearly marked.

Welcome to Saint Luke

Whether you are visiting for the first time, or are a longtime member, we are blessed to have you with us. As a Reconciling in Christ Congregation, we welcome all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions based on our belief in a radically inclusive Jesus who loved all people regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, economic, social status, or physical abilities. Saint Luke Ministries strives to be a place “Where all are welcomed, period.”

About this Service

On the Second Sunday in Lent, the liturgy will look a little different and reflects our commitment to a new task. We are on a pilgrimage of penitence; we must change our path to keep our goal in sight. Second, throughout all of Lent, the joyful Hymn of Praise “Glory to God in the Highest” is omitted. Third, the Alleluia is absent. It was “buried” on Shrove Tuesday and will not be sung until the announcement of the resurrection, when we again shout that ancient and joyful acclamation.

On the pulpit is a Tapestry of Remembrance: a woven net is entwined with symbols of the Passion. This physical symbol prompts recall of the events of the final week of our journey as our Lord makes his way to the cross. What symbols do you see? The Lenten environment at Saint Luke is a pilgrim’s road. With each entry into the sanctuary we re-create our spiritual journey, adjusting our direction to better follow the One whose sacrifice restores our loss.

Welcome Pastor Brian T. Johnson

We are excited to have Pastor Brian T. Johnson join us here at Saint Luke Ministries as the Pastor of Saint Luke Church. Pastor Johnson will be setting up appointments to meet with all members during the first few months of his time at Saint Luke.
