Victorious, Eternal, Light: A JAZZ PASSION is a one-of-a-kind experience. Believed to be the first major production of the Passion set to jazz, this work combines the emotional power of jazz harmonies and rhythms with the power of the gospel message to express the extraordinary spiritual journey of the last days of Christ’s ministry.
This original staged production, written for choir, vocal quartet, soloists and a 12-piece jazz orchestra, pairs top Chicagoland Jazz instrumentalists with vocalists from Chicago's Lakeside Singers to tell the story of Jesus' passion and resurrection in modern language in the jazz medium. Jazz artists Andy Tecson, Bobby Lewis and Bobby Schiff scored David Abrahamson's libretto to produce a lively yet moving and faithful rendition of the familiar story.
